SUPPORTED PROJECTS

The Polar Collective supports a variety of field-tested citizen science projects both in the Arctic and Antarctic. Each project is specifically tailored to the unique needs of the polar tourism industry and led by trained guides to ensure data quality.

Our committed network of tour operators expand data collection on a geographical and seasonal scale, enhancing the scope and impact of citizen science efforts in the polar regions.

OUR IMPACT

See below the meaningful difference our projects make driven by the continuous data collection of our operator network. These ongoing efforts directly support conservation measures to protect the polar regions.

OPEN OCEAN SEABIRD SURVEYS

Data from this project provides scientists with a new perspective on how to study birds in the open ocean.

HAPPYWHALE

In 2019 slow down zones for whales were introduced in the Antarctic to avoid ship strikes.

SOUTH GEORGIA BIG SEAWEED SEARCH

Data from this project was used for the development of the new South Georgia MPA management plan.
